"Our Sweet Angel" Gavin Jay Erskine is survived by his parents: Nick & Sara Erskine; his brother: Lucas; his grandparents: Len & Karen Kapelinski and Yolanda & Steve Erskine; great grandpa: Ray Rebeck; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

If before you were born, I could have gone to heaven and saw all the beautiful souls, I still would have chosen you. If God had told me "This soul will need extra care and make your heart bleed", I still would have chosen you. If he told me, "This soul will make you question your faith; make tears flow from your eyes; one day make you witness overbearing suffering; and all that you know to be normal would drastically change", I still would have chosen you. Even though I would have chosen you, I know it was God who chose me for you.

A private funeral mass was held at St. Maria Goretti Church in Dyer, IN followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Crown Point, IN.
