MADISON - Dale William Simmons, age 83, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 after a brief illness.
He was born on June 27, 1929, in Minnesota, the son of Bill and Alma Simmons, Dale was a milkman for Borden's, then drove truck for Skelly, and retired from Oscar Mayer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and putzing around. Dale enjoyed people and will be remembered for his joke telling, sense of humor, his famous quote "And a little bit won't hurt" and his love for his four-legged companion, Bandi.
He is survived by his daughter, Penny (Mark Pond) Simmons; son and special daughter-in-law, Rick (Lorrie); granddogs; nephews, Dennis and Jeff Simmons and their families; the Arvold and Wahlberg nieces and nephews; pals at Dairyland; as well as many other friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, June; his parents; and brother, Maynard.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday. Memorials may be made to Dane County Humane Society.
