June M. Clark, 84, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away peacefully on January 19, 2014 at her home. A celebration of her life will be held at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. on Thursday, February 20. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by a worship service at 11:00 a.m. A private committal service will follow. June was born on December 13, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Frederick William McWhorter and Helen Frances (Ferree) McWhorter. She moved to Kansas City at age eight when her father was transferred for business, and she attended Border Star Elementary School and Southwest High School. June received a Bachelor of Music in Piano from the Kansas City Conservatory of Music, having studied under Dr. Victor Labunski. She also attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and received a Bachelor of Music in Oboe. She was a member of the Mu Phi Epsilon music sorority. June was a private music instructor her entire professional life, teaching piano, organ, oboe, and English horn in Kansas City, Raytown, Lee's Summit, New York City, Jacksonville, and Blue Springs, where she taught students for over 10 years at Meyer Music. She served as the activities director at various care facilities and provided music therapy for the residents. June sang in the Chancel Choir at Wornall Road Baptist Church in Kansas City, the Arlington Congregational Church in Jacksonville, the Chancel Choir at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City, and the New York Oratorio Society. June was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Helen McWhorter. Survivors include daughter, Cheryl Clark, of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Catherine Gaines and husband, Carlo Salsedo, of Boca Raton, Fla.; son, Kevin Clark and wife, Terry, of Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Mitzi Connors and husband, Gerry, of Charlotte, N.C.; granddaughter, Mimi Page, of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandson, Kyle Clark, of Kansas City, Mo.; ex-husband, Robert G. Clark, Kansas City, Mo.; niece, Sharon Manzo and family, Athens, W.V.; niece, Laura Rogers and family, Los Angeles, Calif.; and nephew, William McMillan Rogers IV and family, Bentonville, Ark.
