MADISON — Delmar Keith Tietz, age 75, passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare.

He was born on March 23, 1937, in Plankinton, S.D., the son of Myrtle Mary (Smith) and Elmer Edward Henry Tietz. Delmar was the eighth child of 15 siblings. With 15 siblings, he always had something none of the others had; he was the middle child with seven brothers, seven sisters, seven older, and seven younger. The family farm was located outside of Mitchell, S.D. Delmar joined the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in Madison. Once in Madison, he met the love of his life, Lois Ann Krueger, on a blind date. She was the daughter of Adeline (Klawitter) and Albert Krueger. Del and Lois were married on Aug. 2, 1958. By November 1963, their family was complete with four children, Cindy, Dennis, Yvonne and Jeffrey. Delmar taught his family the importance of family, working hard, and that nothing comes on its own. He always said, "There is no question not worth asking, if you don't ask, you will never know." Del worked his entire life and retired from Madison Metro (City of Madison).

He is survived by his wife, Lois; three children; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers; and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jeffrey; his parents; five sisters; three brothers; mother-in-law; and father-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at EASTSIDE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2310 Independence Lane, Madison, at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, with the Rev. Glen Schmiege presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Thank you for teaching us all the best values in life, you will be missed by us all, but a part of you will stay with us forever. We love you...
