Daniel G. Crozier was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Altoona, the youngest of nine children to Russell W. and Elsie (Johnson) Crozier.

Dan served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Dan graduated from Geneva College and received his Master of Education and Master of Anthropology from Temple University.

Dan married Nancy "Laney" Rogers, and they became the parents of two sons.

Dan and his family summered on Nantucket Island, where he was a member of the Nantucket Historical Association and volunteered for the Nantucket Musical Art Society.

He was a science teacher and wrestling coach for the North Penn School District in Montgomery County, northwest of Philadelphia, and prior to his retirement, Dan was an Archeologist with Temple University and the National Park Service.

During his career, he directed significant archeological and historic projects of Native American settlements and Revolutionary and Civil War-era sites. In 2012, Dan was honored with the Philadelphia Archeological Forum Award of Merit.

He was a member of Latrobe Presbyterian Church, the Latrobe Country Club, the Rolling Rock Club and the Loyalhanna Watershed Association.

At the age of 84, Daniel G. Crozier, of Latrobe, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at his home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Russell Crozier, Barbara J. Crozier, the Rev. Richard W. Crozier, the Rev. Dr. R. Byron Crozier, Doris Crozier Todd, Alton H. Crozier, and the Rev. Fred S. Crozier.

He was survived by his wife of more than 49 years, Nancy "Laney" (Rogers) Crozier; two sons, Dr. Daniel G. Crozier Jr., of Winter Park, Fla., and Dr. J. Brooks Crozier and his wife, Jennifer A., of Salem, Va.; two grandchildren, Jamie and Ellen Crozier; a brother, Dr. David J. Crozier and his wife, Ann, of Fort Myers, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services in Unity Chapel, Latrobe, with his pastor, the Rev. Clark R. Kerr, officiating.
Interment in Unity Cemetery.
