Lucien E.(Lou) Hamann, 71, of Lewiston, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening at his home.

Born at Tetford Mines,Quebec on Jan. 21, 1911, the son of Cleophas and Alexandrine Larochelle Hamann, Mr. Hamann came to this country in 1926 and to Lewiston shorty afterward. He was educated in Canadian schools and schools in Suffern and Hyde Park, N Y. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, the Holy Name Society and the Lewiston Senior Citizens.

Mr. Hamann was a well known barber since the 1930's and for a number of years owned and operated Lou-Rod Candy Company In Lewiston.

Surviving are his wife, the former Yvonne Mathieu, whom he married June 18, 1934; three sons Raymond M. and Laurier J., both of Lewiston, and Marcel A. of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Jullien (Yolande) Dumont of Lewiston and Mrs. Clarence (Odette) Tardif of Tallahassee. Fla.; two sisters, Ernestine Gagne and Madeleine Landry, both of Lewiston; three brothers, Louis-Philippe of Lewiston, Rodolphe of Rochester, N.H.. and Francois of Wethersfield, Conn.; and 10 grandchildren.
