Harold F. Alderman Jr.

Harold Alderman North Adams Harold F. Alderman, Jr., 86, of 85 Eagle St., St. Josephs Court, died Tues. morn at 2:05, in North Adams Regional Hospital, where he was admitted on April 23. Death followed a lengthy illness.He was born in North Adams, son of Harold Alderman Sr., and Grace King Alderman.He was educated in the North Adams schools, attending St. Joseph's Parochial School and later , Drury High School. He left his studies at Drury during his junior years and enlisted in the Marine Corps at the onset of the 2nd World War.He attained the rate of Sgt. 1st class with the Corps and was discharged honorably after doing sea duty and the Panama Canal. After his wartime duty, he entered the Milwaukee School of Engineering and was gifted with an associate degree in that field and subsequently was afforded a position with International Business Machines of Poughkeepsie N.Y., where he spent many years in their Engineering Dept. Until his retirement in 1974, because of a disability. During this period he also enlisted in the Mass National Guard and served with Company K 104th Inf Division as one of the company's top sergeant. He leaves his wife of 63 years, the former Patricia Ann Walker with whom he exchanged marriage vows on Aug. 8, 1945. besides his wife he leaves a son, Craig E. Alderman, of Athens, Pa., daughter, Wendy Jane Alderman of North Adams; six grandsons, Milan T. Markovic, of Pittsfield, John D. Duquette, Jr., of Florida, Mass. Kevin M. Duquette of North Adams, craig E. Alderman Jr., of Vetsal, N.Y., Chad Alderman of Pennsylvania and Craig Allen Alderman of Florida. He also leaves six great-grandchildren, Christian M. and Nicholas M. markovic, Makayla Duquette, Nathan Alderman, along with Shania and Courtney Alderman. There are also five step-grandchildren, all of Athens, Pa. Harold was predeceased by two daughters, Cindy and Patricia Alderman, and a deceased brother Donald Alderman, a sister, the late Marjorie Callahan. He attended St. Anthonys Church of North Adams and he was anElks Lodge Member of the Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Lodge. FUNERAL NOTICE: An Inurnment service of Harold Alderman will be held Monday, Sept. 15, at the Family burial plot in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams, with the Rev. Deacon Greg LaFrenierre, officiating. The Family suggests memorial offerings to the American Cancer Society, 59 Bobalo Road, Holyoke MA 01040, or thru MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME of Adams, MA.
