American Rockabilly Musician. Born Wesley Erwin Curtis Jr. in Fort Worth, Texas, he began playing the guitar at the age of 12. He moved with his family to Weatherford, Texas in 1954 where he and two classmates formed a band. They started out just playing at school events but soon began playing locally. In 1955 they signed with King Records who released their debut single titled "If I Had a Woman." Not long afterward, he went into the military to serve his country. After his stint in Korea was finished, he came back to the United States and worked as a disc jockey while he continued to try to make it in the music business. In 1968, Epic Records released his album "The Sunshine Man" which reached number 35 on the U.S. Country albums chart. In the 1970's, he began recording with Ray Campi and signed a contract with Rollin' Rock Records who released his albums "Ruffabilly", "Good Rockin' Tomorrow" and "Rock Me." After that his career finally took off. He went on to release albums with several companies including: Sunshine Records ("Golden Gospel Favorites"), Radar Records ("Rockin' Mother"), Rebel ("Texas Rockabilly Legend", "Top Cat on Rockabilly Track"), Hightone Records ("Rockabilly Uprising"), and Vinyl Japan Records ("Rockabilly Ready"). His last album titled "Songs I Wish I Wrote" was released in 2011 by Bluelight Records. He was elected into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame and can be seen playing himself in the 2002 movie titled "Don't Let Go". He passed away at the age of 74 from injuries received in an automobile accident.
