The following obituary appeared in the "Patriot-News" (Harrisburg, PA) on November 23, 2013:

Stephen L. Risser, Sr., 75, of Lower Paxton Township, went home to be with his Lord and his wife, Sandra, on Friday, November 22, 2013 in Community General Osteopathic Hospital.

He was a peacetime US Air Force Veteran, retired Firefighter for Harrisburg City Fire Bureau and former employee of Central Dauphin School District and Harrisburg Post Office.

Stephen was born in Harrisburg, son of the late Irvin and Madelene Risser and was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sandra; a sister, Elizabeth Keller, and twin grandsons, Joshua and Justin Given. He is survived by eight children, James Hallman, Deborah Eisenacher and husband, Tom, Dale Hallman and wife, Bonnie, Rose Given, Carol Risser, Stephen Risser II, Paula Risser-Stuller and husband, David, and Paul Risser; his stepmother, Blanche Risser (105 years old); two sisters, Maryann Miick, and Laura Gabbard; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Stephen enjoyed spending time with his family and made it a point to attend every concert and sports event of his grand and great grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed traveling, especially on their cruises.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 11:00 am in New Love in Christ Church, 6003 Jonestown Rd., Lower Paxton Twp. with Pastor Ross E. Reider officiating. Burial will be in Risser Mennonite Cemetery, Mt. Joy Township. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the church. Arrangements are being handled by Fackler-Wiedeman Funeral Home, Harrisburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Love in Christ Church, 6003 Jonestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17112.
