∼Darden Hollis was a Deputy for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in California. He was with the Police Force for 15 years when he was killed in the line of duty at age 42. Deputy Hollis was struggling with a man he was trying to arrest on Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood, when the suspect gained control of the Deputy's Partner's service revolver and shot Deputy Hollis dead. Also wounding two other Deputies. The suspect was arrested and charged with murder. He was found guilty of manslaughter instead. He served a short prison sentence. After being released, the ex-convict continued his life of crime. He was sent back to Prison for other crimes. In 2004 the suspect died in prison during an altercation with Correction Officers in Lancaster, California. Deputy Hollis was an Army Veteran and was survived by a wife, parents, and a brother. He was assigned to the West Hollywood Station.
