Obit: Paul Lealand Channell, age 57 of Wellston, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio, after a sudden and unexpected illness. He was born Oct. 19, 1950 in Jackson County, Ohio, to the late Avenelle and Ike Channell of Jackson.

Paul served four years as a Navy Seal and worked 23 years at General Mills in Wellston. He was a wonderful husband, father of four children, grandfather and friend. He was loved by many people; he always walked around with a smile on his face and a funny joke to tell.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Veda L. (Elkins) Channell, two daughters, Tracie Channell and Rebecca Swisher, two sons, Paul M. Channell, and Timmy Channell, all of Jackson; four sisters, Marsha (Bud) Spriggs of Jackson, Gloria (Robert) Booher of Georgia, Debbie (Rick) Baisden of Coalton, and Karen (Mike) Merz of Columbus; four brothers, Mike, Larry (Linda), Harry (Shirley), and Dennis (Lisa); five grandchildren, Kalle, Scottie, Blake, Elijah, and Ashley.

Friends may call at the Mayhew Funeral Home Thursday, Oct. 25, from 4 ? 8 p.m., where funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Trace officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbell Cemetery. Military graveside service will be conducted by the Disabled American Veterans, Jackson County Chapter 45.
