Musician. He was a member of the Golden Troupe, a repertory company that toured from 1875 to 1890. Operating out of New Harmony, Indiana, this famous band of actors and musicians toured the United States visiting such diverse locations as San Antonio, Baton Rouge, Fort Scott, Kansas and anywhere in-between. They logged up to seven states and 80 or 90 towns every season. No small operation, they also had their own 15 piece brass band, "The Superb Silver Band" along to "drum" up business. The troupe depended heavily on their star, Bella Golden, and when her health failed in 1889 the Goldens only managed one more season.
