The announcement of the death of Mr Harvey was a severe shock to his scores of friends and admirers throughout the city, for many were not even aware of his being ill. Friday he was carried to an infirmary, suffering with an attack of pneumonia, and Saturday night, at 10:30 o'clock, the ed came. Mr Harvey was in the 45th year of his age. He was the son of W G Harvey and Cornelia J Harvey and is survived by his mother and several brothers and sisters. Mr Harvey was prominent in Charleston business circles for many years, but retired from active business life several years ago, owing to declining health. Thereafter he devoted himself to outdoor exercises and recreation to restore his impaired health.
