Sister Cecile Therese O'Connor, 73, who taught at secondary and elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for many years, died Tuesday of a stroke at Assisi House, a convent for retired nuns in Aston.
During her 28 years as a teacher in the archdiocese, Sister Cecile Therese served longest at Lansdale Catholic High School, from 1963 to 1977. Her teaching assignments also included St. Hubert's High School in Philadelphia and St. Pius High School in Pottstown.
Sister Cecile Therese also taught and served in health care in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, including 13 years with St. Joseph's Medical Center in Towson, Md. She retired to Assisi House in February.
Born Agnes Theresa O'Connor in Baltimore, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis Assisi in 1945. She held bachelor's and master's degrees from Villanova University.
Sister Cecile Therese is survived by sisters Frances Therres and Eunice Wheat.
A Funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. today at the Assisi House, 609 S. Convent Rd., Aston. Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Franciscan Ministries Foundation, 609 S. Convent Rd., Aston, Pa. 19014.
