Obituary for Doris Mae Vorce
Doris Mae Rowntree Vorce, age 77, of Fountain Inn, SC formerly of Snellville, Georgia entered into rest on Saturday 17, 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Diana V. Tucker and her husband Jerry of Fountain Inn, SC; three grandchildren, Nathan Tucker (Crystal) of Mauldin, SC, Matthew Tucker, E-6, U.S. Coast Guard (Jennifer) of Antelope, CA, and Valerie Tucker Helms (Steven) of Easley, SC; six great grandchildren, Jacob, Kayla, Madison, Austin, Braxton, Cirsten; sister, Sue Amatriain (Fred) of Monroe, GA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Doris Mae Vorce was born on October 8, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan to Beulah Wray Parent Rowntree and James Harold Rowntree. She attended nursing school in Atlanta and received her BA Degree in Illinois. Doris was one of the first nursing consultants for newborn lactation in the greater Atlanta area working at Dekalb General (Dekalb Medical Center) for over 20 years of service. She was a member at Snellville First United Methodist Church and had been attending the Mauldin, SC First Baptist Church while living with her daughter and family. Doris enjoyed painting, making jewelry, and had served as a Lay Pastor. She was an Eastern Star and had been active with the Snellville Chapter. Her greatest joy in life was being a Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and a friend. This southern lady will be deeply missed by her adoring family.
A Service Honoring the Life of Doris Mae Vorce will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 2:30 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Minister Lester Waters officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. till Noon at the funeral home.
