John Frederick BUECHNER emigrated to the United States 0n 23 August 1853, and immigrant from Hasbergen, Kreis Delmenhorst, Duchy of Oldenburg. He was age 18 when he stepped off the boat in Baltimore, Maryland. He arrived with his parents Werner and Beke Margaretha (STORCH) BUECHNER and his sister Gesine Margarethe. One sister died in Germany. They first settled in Indianapolis, Indiana but may have had family in Cincinnati as they listed that city as their destination on the ship manifest list. They resided in Indianapolis on Virginia Avenue from ca. 1858-1874 and probably filed his first citizenship papers there. In the latter year they removed to Dakota County, Minnesota briefly and finally settled in St. Paul in 1881 after John F. Buechner built a house at 719 Plum Street in St. Paul. His business was situated on the corner of Plum and Bates streets on Dayton's Bluff. John Frederick Buechner became a citizen of the USA in 1890 in Ramsey County, Minnesota. John F. Buechner died in St. Paul, Minnesota on 23 Feb. 1915.
