A long time resident of Westfield, Mrs Florence McClintock Ayres, died Nov. 15 at the home of one of her sons in Saint Louis, Me.

Born in Jamaica, Long Island, in 1892, Mrs. Ayres moved to Westfield 1919 with her parents. Her father, Frank McClintock of Somerville, Mass., founded the Mac Lac Shellac Company of Rahway. Her mother, Elizabeth Cartwright of Arianta, had been in the Civil War march to the sea and later lived in Manchester, N.H.

Mrs. Ayres was married in St. Paul's Church to the late Malcolm B. Ayres, former principal of elementary school number eight in Linden, who died in 1942. She lived most of her life in Dudley Ave., graduated from Westfield High School and attended the Julliard Conservatory of Music in New York City. A communicant of St. Paul's Church and a member of Westfield's Woman's Club, she worked with the American Red Cross during World War II.

Afterwards she was active with the Mountainside Rescue Squad as an ambulance driver.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. Stephen of Saint Louis, and David of Port Washington, N.Y. There are five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday at St. Paul's Church with Canon Richard J. Hardman officiating Interment was at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Arrangements were by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad St.
