Information from the Adams Review, December 14, 1950:
William Warren Dean died at his home here, Friday afternoon, December 8th. Mr. Dean was an old time resident of Minnesota having been born in St. Paul, August 7, 1872, and spending his early years in Mower County. As a youngster he lived on the Dean Farm between Adams and Rose Creek and attended school in Rose Creek. The family later moved to Northfield, Minnesota, where he lived with his mother, brother Warren and two sisters, Day (Mrs. Woodcock) and Ann (Mrs. H. C. Maughan) now of Minneapolis, and the only surviving member of the family. While living in Northfield, Mr. Dean attended Carleton Academy and the University of Minnesota.

June 1, 1899, he married Lena Vega of Donaldsonville, Louisiana. Some previous time a private bank under the name of Dean, Schmidt and Dean was organized in Adams of which Bill Dean was cashier. The institution was later chartered as the First National Bank of Adams.

The Dean home was established where a family of four children, Marcelle, Dorothy, William and Douglas, grew to maturity. Marcelle is at present a high school teacher in Morrison, Illinois; Major William Dean is stationed at Okinawa; Corporal Douglas Dean is in Denver, Colorado, and Dorothy Dean is with the firm of American Machine and Metal, in East Moline, Illinois. Major William Dean is married and his wife and son Michael, age four, live at present in Tucson, Arizona.

Mrs. Lena Dean died June 17, 1917. Some time later, Mr. Dean married Olive Vega, who survives him at present.

From the earliest days Mr. Dean has been fundamentally interested in the growth and development of Adams and the surrounding community. He and his brother, Warren Dean, were prominent in Mower County banking circles. His brother, who died March 17, 1948, operated the First State Bank of Rose Creek for many years.

Since the closing of the First National Bank of Adams during the moratorium in 1932, Mr. Dean has been retired. Known to all the children in town, he has spent his days quietly, a good neighbor and friend to all.
