Obituary:

Leland (Lee) C. Beyette, 80, of Cass City, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Tendercare Cass City, following a lingering illness.

Beyette was born May 2, 1920, in Caro, the son of Timothy and Muriel (Kline) Beyette. He married Carol A. Ferguson Dec. 31, 1982, in Caro.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force as an M.P. during World War II. After the war, he worked in the auto plants and later for Duggon Brothers Construction Co. in Jackson. He came back to Tuscola County and Cass City in the early 1970s and worked at the Pillsbury Co-op Elevator in Cass City for some years, as well as his Voss Road farm.

He is survived by his wife Carol; 5 daughters, 5 sons and their spouses, Dolores and Alex Kastraba of Caro, Evelyn and Paul Lalko of Kingston, Gina and Jeff Flikke and Charlene and Mark Troy, all living in Kansas, Collette and Mike Flowers of Deford, Timothy Beyette of Michigan, Roger Beyette of Flint, Jesse Beyette of Birch Run, Leland Beyette Jr. and Jamie Beyette, both living in Deford; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, one sister, Gertrude B. Hack, predeceased him Jan. 15, 1988. Funeral services were held at the Indianfields Township Cemetery Chapel in Caro Monday, Oct.16, with the Rev. Ronald C. Wigand of the Caro First Baptist Church officiating.

As an expression of sympathy, it was Lee's wish that in lieu of flowers you consider memorial gifts to the Salvation Army or the Shriner's Hospitals for Crippled Children.

The Ransford Funeral Home of Caro assisted the family with these arrangements.
