Orville L. Adkins Jr., 84, of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday March 6, 2013 at Monroe Hospital surrounded by his family. Orville was born March 1, 1929 in Bloomington and he was the son of Orville L. Adkins Sr. and Mary Maysel (Clendenning) Adkins. Orville very proudly served his country in the Korean War serving in both the Army and Air Force. He took great pride in being a Veteran and loved to tell stories and show pictures of his time in the service. He worked as a truck driver and a mechanic and retired from Winterlein Meats in Bloomington.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years Loretta M. (Sparks) Adkins of Bloomington, daughters Mary Beth Skees and husband Benjamin of Shoals and Cynthia Adkins of Bloomington and one son David Adkins of Bloomington. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services for Orville will be 1:00 pm Saturday at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington. Larry Baldwin will officiate the service. Burial will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery where the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard will have military rites. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Saturday at The Funeral Chapel.
