Y'Ora Gene Nielsen Age 83.
Joseph, Utah

Our sweetheart, beloved wife, mother, grandma and friend, Y'Ora "Y" Nielsen Rasmussen, 83, passed away peacefully February 20, 2013 in the Richfield Care Center. She was born April 12, 1929 in Joseph to Fleet and Althea Winn Nielsen. She was raised by George and Mary Bradbury. She married Gordon Rasmussen, March 28, 1948, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Y retired from Mountain Bell, she then worked at K-Mart. After retiring she never slowed down and dedicated so much of her time to the community of Sevier County. For nine years she served as a teacher of crafts at Cedar Ridge with her dear friend, Melba McCombs. She taught crocheting, wood crafts, cooking, dating etiquette and life skills. She was involved in 4-H for over 15 years. She taught crafts, cooking and sewing. Y enjoyed judging and volunteering at the Sevier County and surrounding county fairs. She loved to travel with the 4-H leaders. Every Monday Y would meet with the 6-County Extension and teach crocheting to anyone who wanted to learn. She was so talented. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and enjoyed doing things with the Relief Society. Y'Ora was well known in the community.

In her younger years she enjoyed the outdoors and hunting with the love of her life, Gordie. She was a great shot! They went everywhere together and never missed a horse race, a Jazz game or a family gathering. Y treated everyone like family and was always the life of the party. She had so many friends and was always having a good time.

Y'Ora was the rock of our family. She took care of all of us. She made us laugh with her funny sayings and always had a treat or a new recipe for us to try. We are going to miss her so much.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years; children: Greg (Terri) Rasmussen, Austin, Texas; Judy (Arlis) Jensen, West Valley; Karen Rasmussen, Joseph; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; half-brothers: Bob, Henry and Jack Nielsen.
Preceded in death by parents; half brother, Udell Nielsen; half sisters, Nora Mae Jessen; Alta Pettet; step-sister, Dot Hansen.
