Marla Kay Fillinger of 5532 Eldorado Court died Tuesday from injuries she suffered in a car accident on Canyon Ferry Road. She was 37.

Born Nov. 14, 1947, in Miles City, to former Governor Tim Babcock and Betty Babcock, she attended elementary schools in Miles City, coming to Helena when her father was elected Lieutenant Governor. She graduated from Helena High School in 1965. While in high school she was in the majorettes and a member of the honor society.

She attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash., graduating in 1969.

She married Michael A. Fillinger on June 9, 1968, in Helena.

Mrs. Fillinger had been teaching at the Cornerstone Academy in East Helena at the time of her death.

Mrs. Fillinger was active in the National Reading Reform Foundation. She was a member of the East Helena Foursquare Church and the Family Life Center. While in college she was associated with Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and was a member of the Spurs National Honor Society.

Survivors include her husband, Mike; a daughter, Phoebe Kay; a son, Matthew Allen; her parents, Tim and Betty Babcock; a sister, Mrs. William D. (Lorna) Kuney, all of Helena; her mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Fillinger of Townsend; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Victor R. Alinen officiating. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dan Fillinger, Bill Kuney, Donald Babcock and David McClain.

Retz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
