Sara Frances Camp, Artist, Passes Away
Mrs. Sara Frances Camp, 83, died late Monday night at her home, River Road, Port Blanchard. Mrs. Camp's skill as an artist and her great love for her work are evidenced by the number and quality of beautiful paintings that adorn the walls of the old Blanchard homestead where she passed away.
Mrs. Camp was greatly interested in flowers and nature study and traveled for miles to attend flower shows. Several months ago she made a trip to Rochester to inspect the many rare species of flowers displayed in that city.
Born in Washington, D. C., she was the daughter of the late Colonel Peter Alabaugh and Nancy Blanchard Alabaugh. Her father was a colonel in the Mexican and Civil Wars and her mother was a member of the well known Blanchard family of Wyoming Valley. After her marriage she moved to Kansas City when she remained until 18 years ago, when she took up her residence at Port Blanchard.
Mrs. Camp was a member of the Christian Science Church of Wilkes-Barre. She has no immediate survivors, several cousins being her only relatives. The funeral will be held from the Maury Funeral Home, 111 Park Avenue, West Pittston, Thursday afternoon at 2:30. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
