Mrs. Gatlin, widow of Eugene Stitt Gatlin, died Sunday, December 2, 2001. Born in Fries, Va., she was a daughter of the late Smith Thomas and Frances Jane Bratton Petty. Mrs. Gatlin was a member of Eau Claire Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She accepted the Lord as her Savior by grace through faith at age 26 and spent the rest of her life witnessing the wonder of the love of Jesus Christ. God richly blessed her life as she was an instrument for Him in the winning of souls. After Mrs. Gatlin's children were grown, she owned and operated the Gatlin's Rest Homes for 25 years in the Columbia area, receiving recognition by the Department of Social Services at an Award Ceremony upon retirement.

Mrs. Gatlin was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Jean Gatlin Blackburn, and a son, Eugene Stitt Gatlin Jr.
