JOHN ANDERSON BURNETT (1840-1920)
According to records in Archives of the Virginia State Library in Richmond, John Anderson Burnett was a Lieutenant in C. E., 50th Infantry Regiment, C. S. A., and was captured at the Spottsylvania Courthouse on May 12, 1864.
The Adjutant General's Office in Washington verifies the above information and adds that he was imprisoned at Bell Plains, Virginia, Pt. Lokout, Md., and Ft. Delaware, Del.; from the latter prison he was released and took the oath of alle- giance on June 16, 1865.
Burnett's residence was listed as Sullivan County, Tennessee, and his description was "complexion dark, hair dark, eyes dark and height 5 ft. 10 in."
