Basil Leroy Breithaupt, 87, long time Guymon resident, died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 30, 1990 at the Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, following a brief illness.
The son of William Leroy and Susie Breithaupt, he was born Nov. 4, 1903 at Kernes, Texas. He attended school in Texas, New Mexico and Goodwell. The family moved to Guymon from Goodwell in the early 20s.
Basil and Bessie Howell were married at Goodwell July 31, 1929.
Mr. Breithaupt was the first employee hired with the Adams Hard-Facing Company. He retired in 1976.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Basil's hobby was woodworking and he was well known for his ability to restore furniture.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers.
Survivors include Bessie, his wife of the home; one brother, Ernest Breithaupt of Guymon; and two sisters, Darlene Bruni of Stratford, Texas and Alene Lucas of Altamont, Kan.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. from the Bunch-Roberts Chapel with Rev. Dick Powell, pastor of the Eva Community Church officiating.
Interment was in the Elmhurst Cemetery under the direction of the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
The Basil Breithaupt family request memorials be given to the Diabetes Association. Memorials will be accepted at the funeral home.
