Funeral service for Edward Joseph Chestnut, Sr., 81, Lawton will be at 2:00pm Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church, Lawton with Kenneth E. Hayes, Pastor of Jefferson Baptist Church, Lawton and Pastor Mike Ellis, Calvary Baptist Church, Lawton officiating.
Mr. Chestnut died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at his home in Lawton.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Lawton under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
He was born June 5, 1931 in Wilmington, Delaware to Harry Burton and Jennie (Johnson) Chestnut. He served in the US Navy from 1948 until 1950. He married Nan Johnston on June 20, 1951 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was retired from Civil Service at Fort Sill as an Illustrator. He loved artwork, photography, building ships in a bottle and loved to fly. He owned his own airplane. Mostly though, he loved and enjoyed his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Nan of the home, three children, Nanette Hagen and husband Tony of Lawton, OK, Harriet Lugo of Florence, NJ, Edward Chestnut, Jr of Florida, 7 grandchildren, Tony Hagen, Jr of Lawton, OK, Charles Nelson of American Samoa, Heather Moore and husband Craig of Lawton, OK, Jennifer Bass and husband Zack of Lawton, OK, Brent Hagen and wife Kathellena of Lawton, OK, Reighna Chestnut of Madill, OK, Harry Chestnut of Lawton, OK, and 5 great grandchildren, Ashley Moore, Alexis Hagen, Eric Moore, Hagen Bass and Randi Morgan Bass.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harry Burton Chestnut and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth DePrisco and Alice Rose Chestnut.
