W. H. HAMPTON
Friends in Bastrop and throughout the parish were shocked to learn of the death of Mr. W. H. Hampton which occurred at the home of his niece, Katie Whetstone Dalgarn (Mrs. George Walter Dalgarn) #54641587 at Collinston, Wednesday evening, February 21, 1923 at 7 o'clock. Until about two years ago, when ill health overtook him, he had led a most active life and had from boyhood been prominently identified with affairs in Morehouse Parish. While still a young man he took a leading part in ridding the parish of the "carpet bag" regime.

For many years he was engaged in planting in the fifth ward. He was sheriff of Morehouse Parish for a number of years, and at the expiration of his term of office continued to make Bastrop his home until about three years ago when he purchased a farm in Ouachita Parish, where he has since resided. Big hearted, generous and kindly, he number his friends by all who knew him.

nee Miss Kitty Larkin
One sister:
Mrs. John Beaucamp of Oak Ridge

The funeral took place at the Baptist cemetery in Oak Ridge, Thursday afternoon. Rev. A. W. Skardon, rector of the Episcopal Church officiated at services. He has Masonic Rites at graveside.
