About 1899 they emigrated with their son Thijs to the USA, Montana, Gallatin County, Bozeman, where they had from 16 April 1901 until 10 January 1911 five more children, Sietske, Ytje, Roelof, Adriaantje and Grietje Schuiling.
A month after Grietje's birth she died at the age of 38 years.
