He was survived by his father, Ted Green of Cascade, Iowa, two sisters - Sherene and LouAnn, and two brothers - Ed and Dennis. Ace was also survived by his cat SpongeBob, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his mother, Mildred, and his sister Bernice.
Ace loved to fly airplanes, and belonged to the Experimental Aircraft Association. He also had a collection of Ford vehicles. He served in the Army from 1966 - 1968.
Shortly before his death, he and Margie were featured in the Dubuque Telegraph Herald when the couple got married on what they thought was his deathbed. The couple was married on November 23, 2004 in Lancaster. On the wedding day, doctors only expected him to live only a few more hours. But the wedding gave Ace an emotional boost which enabled him to survive two more weeks.
