Bio

Hello. Nice to meet you. In no particular order, I am an amateur historian, philologist, practicing attorney, railroad buff, computer nerd, folk musician, and taphophile.

My interest in cemeteries dates back to my childhood, when I found a disused and vandalized pioneer-era cemetery near my home and (unsuccessfully) petitioned the town council to fix it up or let me do it myself. That didn't come to fruition, but the whole episode helped me develop a life-long interest in cemeteries, funerary art, and historic preservation.

As a subsidiary interest, I enjoy military (particularly Civil War) history and visiting battlefields. I have visited Gettysburg on scores of occasions, as well as Manassas and South Mountain. I've also visited the Brandywine and Trenton battle sites, and spent much time at Washington's Crossing. I am a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and Sons of the American Revolution.
