Patsy Ann Martin, age 82, went home to her Father on Monday October 16, 2017, after complications following heart surgery in Little Rock, AR. Pat was born in Anna, IL on October 28, 1935 to Sidney Mullins and Pauline (Mullins) Johnson, and was the youngest of three girls.

Later, Pat’s mother remarried, and the three girls were adopted by her second husband, James F. Johnson. Pat graduated from High School in Georgetown, TX, where she was active in Theater and Art. She graduated from Abilene Christian College in 1957, earning a BA degree in Art. She worked in Colorado Springs, CO at the Air Force Academy as a draftsman, and eventually made her way back to Texas, where she began work as a stewardess with Braniff Airlines. She met and married a fellow Braniff employee, Larry Martin, on October 28, 1960, in Houston, TX. Pat and Larry welcomed their first son, Tod, in October of 1961, followed by a daughter, Laura, in 1963, and Kelly in 1970.

Pat was an excellent cook, and enjoyed entertaining in her home and sharing food with friends at church. She was also an outstanding artist, teaching lessons in her home studio, exhibiting in galleries in Houston and Texarkana, and receiving the ArkLaTex Artist of the Year award more than once. Her works are proudly displayed in the homes of clients, friends and family members across the nation.

Pat loved the glory of God’s creation and enthusiastically traveled as often as possible, and instilled that appreciation in her children. She and Larry traveled extensively throughout the United States, including spending several summers working at Yellowstone National Park. One of her final trips in recent years was an excursion to Israel with her sister, Sue. It remained a highlight of her life, and was an event she recalled often. She encouraged her children to learn to ski, and loved spending time in the mountains. When raising her family in Houston, she made many day trips with her kids to the beach in Galveston, another of her favorite places.

Pat had a life-long love for God and His church. She was active and attended every chance she got. She made life-long friends that were still a part of her life when she passed away. Because of her deep love for God, and her trust in His son, she was confident in where she would go after dying. We are comforted by the knowledge that we will see her again, and joyfully anticipate our reunion someday.

Patsy Martin is survived by her husband of 56 years, Larry Martin of Searcy, AR, her son, Tod and his wife Dana, also of Searcy, her daughter Laura Janszen and her husband Todd, of Cedar Park, TX, and her son Kelly and his wife Trinity, of Las Vegas, NV. She had 3 grandchildren, Matthew Martin of Searcy, AR, and Amy and Michaelah Janszen of Cedar Park, TX. She leaves behind two sisters, Sue Tomme and her husband Ron, of Atlanta, GA, and Sharon Mullins, of Anna, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Hampton Church of Christ in Texarkana, TX with Don Brown and Jerry Monholland officiating. A brief graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Hwy. 67.
