Fruit Grower, Aged 80, Succumbs in Daughter's Home; Funeral Tomorrow. Alpha, Nov. 17 .
George Haven, aged 80, died at 2.30 yesterday afternoon in the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. T. McCurdy. He had been bedfast five weeks. Death resulted, from the infirmities of age.
Son of Charles and Isabelle Haven, and one of seven children, he was born Aug. 31, 1857, in Brown county, Ohio. He attended rural schools in Ohio and as a young man came to Whitehall, Illinois. He was a farmer and fruit grower.
On Aug. 10, 1888, he married Mrs. Katherine Schier at Winchester, Illinois. She died July 4, 1917, in Normal.
Shortly after her death he came to Alpha, where he lived until 1921, when he moved to Orlovista, Fla. There he had engaged, in fruit growing sixteen years. On April of this year he returned to Alpha.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. McCurdy of Alpha: two sisters, Mrs. Mary Barker of Havana, Illinois ., and Mrs. Jane Hearn of Keystone, Okla., and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 tomorrow morning in the home in Alpha, in charge of the Rev. R. B. Favpright of the Alpha Baptist church. Then the body will be taken to Whitehall, where Mr. Haven .will be buried beside the grave of his wife, in the Whitehall cemetery.
