FLORENCE - Melville Crowder Wood, Jr., 93, a longtime resident of the Presbyterian Home of Florence, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017.

Mr. Wood was born in Norfolk, VA a son of the late Melville C. Wood, Sr. and Florence Davidson Wood. Woody retired from the civil service at Naval Station Norfolk. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was a member of the VFW of Florence and loved photography.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Inez Hall Wood and sister, Beulah J. Gee.

Surviving are his son, Charles A. (Myrna) Brooks of Berlin Heights, Ohio; daughter, Linda B. Gulledge of Florence; grandchildren, Michelle (Jim) Camp, Carol (Jim) Ruhnke, R. Daniel (Denise) Brooks, Kathy (Chris) Craft, David (Sarah) Gulledge; great-grandchildren Christine, Marilyn, Ryan, Brooke, Peyton, Katelyn and Karah; niece Ann J. Nunes of CA, and nephews Roy P. Gee of VA and David R. Gee of MD.

Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Home of Florence, 2350 W. Lucas Street, Florence, SC 29501 or to McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502.

A memorial service will be held at the Florence Presbyterian Community Chapel on Friday, March 31 at 3 o'clock.
