Michael L. Kemper, 60, died Friday, August 25, 2006, at his home. He was the husband of Christine L. (Jackson) Schrader. Mr. Kemper was born January 31, 1946, in York, to the late Evelyn (Kemper) Ream and the grandson of the late Ruth and John Kemper. He retired from York International as an Assembler with 40 years of service. He served on active duty in the National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a 1963 graduate of York Catholic High School. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, UAW Local 1872, the Viking AA, Hawk Gunning Club, and the Thirteenth Ward Social Club. He was known to be a Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed horse racing and auto racing. Mr. Kemper is survived, in addition to his wife, by two daughters, Kelly A. Altland and her husband, Mark of Reading, and Kristie Kemper of York; two stepdaughters, Betsy Wagman and her husband, Chris of Red Lion, and Kelly Fischer and her husband, Timothy of Lebanon; six grandchildren, Alex Michael, Evie, Jennifer, Katherine, Hannah, and Sarah; two brothers, Daniel Ream and Jeff Ream; and a sister, Linda Irving, Steven Rosas; and many friends and family. Viewings will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St., York. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert M. Gillelan, Jr., officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, with military rites provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, 321 S. George St., York, PA 17401; or to the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403. www.kefferfh.com
