Regarded as the "Father of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, "The Last Great Race". Mr. Redington conceived the idea of a 1,000 mile sled dog race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska, in 1971. The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race began in 1973 and is now held annually in March.
