Soviet Ukrainian opera soprano. After graduating from the Tambov Music College in 1927, she appeared as a soloist at the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theatre and at the Kharkov theatre. She toured extensively including trips to the United States, China and the Middle East. In 1963, she became a professor at the Kiev Conservatory where she also taught until 1963. Her repertoire included the works of over fifty Ukrainian and Russian composers. Her major roles include leads in "Eugene Oregon," "Madame Butterfly," "La Traviata," and "The Snow Maiden." She received the State Prize of the U.S.S.R. in 1941 and the People's Artist of the U.S.S.R. in 1944 as well as two orders and various medals. She retired in 1955. A street in Kiev was named for her.
