Artist. Miklos was born in Kézdimárkosfalva, Mărcuşa in Romanian. Educated at the Protestant school of Nagyenyed. He painted from an early age and in 1829 he was a pupil of J. Ender in Vienna. His study tour in Italy during 1834-1835 proved to be highly fruitful. He took over the technique of painting water colour from W. L. Leitch, an English painter, as well as a novel portrayal of nature. Miklos was the first Hungarian painter who managed to live by means of art which was largely due to the fact that he was a master of portrait painting. As late as 1884 he painted a well-known portrait of the great Hungarian poet János Arany. Revolutionary Lajos Kossuth and poet/revolutionary Sándor Petofi are some of his famous subjects. He was elected a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences at the age of 26, and in 1862 he became president of the Hungarian Fine Art Association. He died in Budapest.
