He is considered a magnificent pianist of the works of Listz, Beethoven or Bhrams. In the long time of his life, he was awarded with the Hans Von Buelow Medal of Berlin Orchestra, La Legion d'Honneur in France, the Music Award of UNESCO, the Beethovenn Medal in New York and was named Doctor Honoris Causa for Oxford University. In Chile, he received in 1983 the National Award of Arts (Premio Nacional de Arte).
