Martyr of the Roman Catholic Church. Venerated as a saint immediately after (860) his killing by faith, born Elodie to a Muslim father of a wealthy family, she was the twin sister of Nunilone who was also martyred. She was born and lived in Aragon, at the time Arab domination like almost the whole Iberian peninsula, and was educated by her mother in the Christian religion. After the death of her father, according to Muslim law, she should have adhered to Islam but Alodia refused, declaring herself openly Catholic. The consequence of this attitude was the accusation of heresy. After a summary trial, she, still a young girl, was sentenced to death and beheaded in the fortress-prison of Al-Qasr (851, October).
