US Congressman. He graduated from the scientific department of Abingdon College Illinois, engaged in teaching as a member of the faculty of Hiram College, Ohio and moved to Sheridan, Wyoming, 1884. He was a delegate from Wyoming to the World’s Fair Congress of Bankers and Financiers at Chicago in 1893 and a member of the constitutional convention that framed the constitution of the new State of Wyoming in 1889. In 1893, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-third Congress, serving until 1895. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he returned to his literary pursuits until his death at age 70.
