Habsburg Royalty. The son of Emperor Ferdinand III and his first wife Maria of Spain. He was elected German King in May 1653 and was crowned the following month in Regensburg. He was elected and crowned King of Bohemia in 1546 and was also crowned King of Hungary a year later. He died before his father, and his brother Leopold became Ferdinand's heir. In his will he requested that his heart be buried under the Loreto Chapel in the Augustinerkirche in Vienna. This became tradition and of the succeeding Habsburgs, 54 had their hearts buried there too.
