Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. Served during the Wars with the Plains Indians as a Private in Company H, 6th United States Regular Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at Sappa Creek, Kansas on April 23, 1875. His citation reads "Rapid pursuit, gallantry, energy, and enterprise in an engagement with Indians". His Medal was issued to him on November 16, 1876.
