Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Cummins Lowe, 89, who died Sunday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Jared, here, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Collegeside Church of Christ. Claude LaMar and Gilbert Shaffer officiated. Burial was in the Cookeville City cemetery. Whitson funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lowe was the widow of Gideon H. Lowe, Sr., who died in 1913. Her husband was one of the organizers and director of Gainesboro telephone company and the First National Bank of Cookeville. He was also one of the trustees of Dixie College, forerunner of Tennessee Tech, and a member of the Cookeville city board.
Mrs. Lowe was born at Cummins Mill in Jackson county. She was married to Mr. Lowe in 1890 and they moved to Cookeville in 1904. She was a daughter of Morrison and Frances Pate Cummins.
Mrs. Lowe was a member of the Chruch of Christ.
She was the mother of the late Robert W. Lowe, former state comptroller, and of the late Morrison Lowe,
Cookeville lumberman.
Surviving is another daughter, Mrs. William Douglas Paschall, St. Louis, MO; a son, Gideon H. Lowe, Jr.,
Cookeville; a brother, Dr. John Cummins, Fort Worth, TX; 13 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
