President of Columbia. Rafael Wenceslao Núñez Moledo twice served as the elected President of Colombia (1880 and 1884). He served in many keys positions throughout his life. He was Circuit Judge in Chiriquí, Panama in 1848 and in the same year began his political career with an appointed as Chief of Staff of Cartagena's government. In 1853, he was elected to the Colombian Congress and in the following year, was elected Governor of the Department of Bolívar. Under President Manuel María Mallarino (1855-1857), Núñez served as the Minister of the Treasury and Minister of War. He also served as the Minister of the Treasury under President Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera. At the University of Cartagena he earned a Bachelor Degree, a Licentiate Degree and a Doctorate Degree of Jurisprudential. He is an author of the 1886 Colombian Constitution and in 1887, wrote the lyrics to the Himno Nacional de la República de Colombia (The National Anthem of the Republic of Colombia). He was first married to Dolores Gallego Candanedo and then to second wife, Soledad Román Polanco. He is buried within the El Cabrero Hermitage Church on Calle Real de el Cabrero in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
