Icelandic Parliament Member. Tryggvi Gunnarsson grew up in Laufás until the age of 14, and then was a carpenter and farmer until 1873. He was the founder of the Grana Society and was its managing director from 1871 to 1893. He was in the reception committee for the coming of the king in 1874 and again in 1907. He was Landsbanki's CEO in Reykjavik from 1893 to 1909. He was the coordinator for the building of the parliament house from 1879 to 1881 and served as president of the National Wine Association 1880 to 1911 and 1914 to 1917. He oversaw the construction of the Ölfusárbrú in 1891 and was in the city council of Reykjavik from 1897 to 1908 and 1910 to 1916. He was the founder of the Animal Welfare Association of Iceland 1914. He served as an Althingi member of the Northern Thingians 1869 to 1874, as a member of the South Mussel county 1874 to 1885, Althingi member of Árnesinga 1894 to 1900, and Althingi member of Reykjavík 1900 to 1908. He was Vice-President of the Joint Assembly 1881 and 1894, Vice-President of the Lower Division 1883-1885 and 1895, and second Vice-President of the Lower Division in 1907.
