U.S. Congressman. He attended Mercersburg Academy and graduated from Princeton University, in 1931. He was associated with National City Bank of New York, (1931-33), with International Business Machines, (1933-360 and district manager of an Eastman Kodak subsidiary, (1936-46). Becoming successful as an advertising executive, he was Alabama Secretary of State in 1958 and a delegate at the Republican National Convention, in 1964. In 1965, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-ninth Congress, serving until 1967. After his term, he resumed his advertising interest and served as a trustee in the Alabama Bankruptcy Court, (1973-85). At the time of his death at age 99, he was the oldest living former U.S. Congressman.
