Poet, writer. Her first collection of poems was published in 1944, and she became a leader in the "new literature" movement of Armenian poetry, depicting the life of Armenian women and survivors of the genocide. Once married to fellow poet Hovhannes Shiraz, their marriage ended in divorce due to the clash of their two titanic personalities. Their son, Ara Shiraz is a prominent sculptor.
