Actor. Born Curt Lowenstein, he was a character actor who appeared on stage, television, and in films during a career that spanned seven decades. When he was fifteen years of age, he, along with his parents, tried to emigrate to the United States via the Netherlands, but their hopes were dashed by the German invasion of the Netherlands in May of 1940. He, along with his mother, was rounded up by the Germans and sent to Westerbork in June of 1943, but were later released through his father's connections. He spent the rest of the war, active with a group of Dutch rescuers, who helped rescue 150 Jewish children who were in hiding. He also helped two downed American Army Air Corps flyers and received a commendation from General Dwight Eisenhower for this action. After the Netherlands was liberated, he joined the British Eighth Corps as an interpreter and aided the British in their house arrest of the remaining Nazi leaders in Flensburg, Germany in mid-May of 1945. In 1947 he, along with his father and step-mother (his mother had passed away in January of 1944), immigrated to the United States. He later trained to be an actor at the Herbert Berghof Studio in New York. He made his acting debut in 1959 on the television series "The DuPont Show of the Month". He would go to appear in many television shows with such credits as "Combat!", "12 O'Clock High", "I Spy", "Hogan's Heroes", "Garrison's Gorillas", "Mission: Impossible", "Medical Center", "Marcus Welby M.D.", "The Six Million Dollar Man", "Hart to Hart", "Dynasty", "MacGyver", "Babylon 5", and "Cold Case". He also appeared in such films as "Two Women" (1960), "Tobruk" (1967), "The Hindenburg" (1975), "The Other Side of Midnight" (1977), "Firefox" (1982), and "Angels and Demons" (2009).
