Actress. She chose to pursue a career as an actress at an early age and studied at the Yale School of Drama. This led to her Broadway debut in the play "She Stoops to Conquer" (1949 to 1950). She has the distinction of originating the part of 'Myfanwy Price' on Broadway in the Dylan Thomas play "Under Milk Wood" (1957). During the 1950s, she began a lengthy association with television beginning with an episode from the program "The Philco-Goodyear Television Theater" (1953), followed with "Dr. Kildare", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "The Donna Reed Show", "Death Valley Days" and many others. She will perhaps be remembered by TV audiences for playing 'Ruth Pfeiffer' in the series "My Three Sons" (1961 to 1963). She had a memorable role as 'Tessie Hutchinson' in short film adaptation of Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" (1969). She later became identified with soap operas including "The Young and the Restless" and "Santa Barbara."
